Yes. Diabetic patients are more likely to be diagnosed with both hypothyroidism and Type I diabetes at the same time. In a diabetic patient, the risk of atherosclerosis, cardiovascular risk, cholesterol and triglyceride issues, and high blood pressure can all be increased due to hypothyroidism. Due to low thyroid, these patients are also more likely to have hypoglycemic events as well. However, if the thyroid is well controlled, then hypoglycemia and related symptoms will improve.
And ALSO Hyperthyroidism is connected to diabetes. There is an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, and risk of having high blood sugar as a result of too much thyroid hormone in the body. This is because thyroid hormones aid in producing glucose and increase absorption of glucose. The appropriate treatment of thyroid dysfunction in diabetic patients will result in better blood sugar control and reduced cardiovascular risk.
