Why is thyroid disorders found more in females?
Dr C H Asrani on Apr 06, 2012 Reply
It is common knowledge that all types of thyroid problems are much more common in women than in men. The reasons are not very clear. Hypothyroidism occurs more commonly at each of the stages in a woman’s life span when hormonal fluctuation is highest; viz puberty, pregnancy, menopause. It is also associated with other common hormonal problems.
